SITUATION OF USE OF ASTHMA TREATMENT MEDICINE IN THE ESPIRATORY DEPARTMENT - NGHE AN FRIENDSHIP GENERAL HOSPITAL

 Asthma  is a chronic inflammatory disease of the bronchial mucosa that increases the bronchi's frequent response to a variety of stimuli, resulting in diffuse constriction of bronchial smooth muscle [1]. In Vietnam, although there are no complete statistics, according to Tran Thuy Hanh et al. (2011), the prevalence of asthma in Vietnamese adults in 2010 was 4.1%, the highest prevalence was in Nghe An (7.65%) [2]. A study on asthma in Asia - Pacific showed that the rate of asthma’s patients admitted to the emergency room during the year was 34%, while in Vietnam this figure was 16-34% [3]. Nghe An Friendship General Hospital is the last hospital in the North Central region with a large scale. At present, there is no comprehensive and systematic study on this issue in the area, so we conduct this research with the goal to analyze the use of drugs to treat asthma in Respiratory Department - Nghe An Friendship General Hospital. A cross-sectional description was conducted on 40 medical records of bronchial asthma patients treated at the Respiratory Department - Nghe An Friendship General Hospital from January 1 to March 30, 2023. The drugs mainly used were ICS (85% budesonide), (2.5% budesonide/fomoterol), (2.5% fluticasone furoate), (5% fluticasone propionate). 62.5% used inhaled SABA, 12.5% used systemic SABA. 62.5% used systemic corticosteroids. The patients with antibiotic use consisted of two groups: 30% using betalactam and 25% using quinolone. 100% of the doses of the drugs in the study were used appropriately.
